Jon Stewart is in town!

Hi everyone,

If you haven't heard already, Jon Stewart and the Daily Show are filming the Midwest Midterm Midtacular at Ohio State this upcoming week. Last night Andy and I went to an event he had for students at the basketball arena. At times it was like a big pep rally for OSU, but other then that, it was pretty cool. Anyway, Jon Stewart is on our list of people we would like to drink a beer with and because he is in town, we decided to send him an email inviting him over to our place for dinner and drinks. Andy doesn't seem to think he will come or even reply, but I am more optimistic and think that it could happen. You never know. What do you think? Leave me a comment on the blog and tell me your thoughts about it. Plus, this will let me know if anyone actually reads this thing!

Have a superb day!

A perfect fall weekend

This weekend Andy and I went to Tennesee to get away from the dreariness that is Columbus. The crisp cool Tennessee weekend was just what we needed! We were able to buy art, hang out with friends and family, drink awesome beer at the Brewer's Jam, race cars, and wash and wax my car! It sounds quite random, but we couldn't have asked for a better weekend. Just look at the beautiful view of the mountains, taken from Maryville College which is right across the street from Andy's parents house.

As I mentioned, Andy was able to do his Solo II car racing this weekend. Since his Celica isn't ready yet, his friend Chuck let him co-drive his Focus. Here are some pics of Andy kicking some arse on the course.

And of course, it wouldn't be an Andy and Michelle trip, if we didn't find something random. On the way back to Columbus, we stopped at the Colonel Sanders Cafe and Museum. The building was the first Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant run by Harland Sanders. It's in Corbin Kentucy just off of I-75 and I recommend you stop there the next time you are driving by. It's a hoot. And you can eat there too.

Ode to Beer - Part 1 in a ? Part Series

Bryan, I apologize for the delay in Oktoberfest pics. I hope this Ode to Beer will make up for it.

"Not all chemicals are bad. Without chemicals such as hydrogen and oxygen, for example, there would be no way to make water, a vital ingredient in beer."
--Dave Barry

"Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy."
--Benjamin Franklin

(The picture above is me and my friend Brian at a beer festival at the North Market. We are holding beers in our hands, but they got cut out of the picture)

"I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day."
--Frank Sinatra

"Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed - Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, 'It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver.'"
-Deep Thought, Jack Handy

Looking back . . .

Hi Everyone. It has come to my attention that some of you are anxious for the entry on Oktoberfest (version Columbus). I am well aware of this situation, but I must inform you that Andy was looking forward to writing that entry and he is out of town this week, so you will just have to wait a little longer. However to calm your nerves until then, I will fill the blog with a gaze back at the weekend of July the fourth.

Over that weekend, Andy's parents came to town for a visit. One of the highlights was a trip to the Franklin Park Conservatory.

One interesting piece of artwork at the conservatory was this large building made of tree branches. Excuse my lack of expertise with regards to art. My parents always stopped my beautiful drawings that I colored on the walls at home when I was a kid, so I'm not really fluent in the arts. (Just kidding mom and dad, you know I love you!!!!) Anyway, I'm not sure exactly what this is or who made it, but I think its really neat.

The conservatory is also home to a Dale Chihuly exhibition which is just out of this world. He is the most amazing, uh, glass artist is I think what you would call him. Here are a few samples of his work that can be seen at this place.

And since we did go to a conservatory, here are some pictures of trees, plants, and flowers.

Andy took all these pictures by the way! Isn't he great?
